Life at Denville Hall

On admission, make sure you bring day clothes, night clothes, toiletries and any medication that is prescribed for you. The medication needs to be left in the original boxes for ease of administration.
The decoration of your room will have already been discussed before you arrive, but feel free to bring pictures and ornaments from home that will make your room more homely.
Visitors are welcome. Currently we have open visiting, with the majority arriving from 10.30am onwards and leaving by 6pm. These hours and arrangements may change if there is an outbreak of infection in the house, or public health advice may change, for example, with COVID.
Visitors are welcome to stay for lunch, if we can be instructed ahead of time. We currently make a charge of £15.00 per head.

The majority of residents are registered with our local GP who holds regular surgeries, but you are free to stay with your own doctor if that is practical. We can organise dental appointments for you too.
We have regular visits from the GP on a Tuesday. The Home is covered by the local GP practice – Mountwood Surgery. Dr Pugh is the main GP and Prof Goodman visits some times.
Great food and drink are all part of the experience at Denville Hall. We have a four-week rolling menu in place but if there is anything specific that you would like that is not on the menu, then you just need to ask.
The design of our dining room offers different seating options, whether you want to eat with others, with a guest or on your own. Our residents can also enjoy socialising at the recently refurbished Coward Bar or in the Green Room.
Our Head Chef visits residents and discusses any dietary requirements, likes or dislikes.

We have a wide variety of activities in the house to meet all tastes. There is a weekly programme, displayed around the house with activities that are available for residents to attend if they wish. These include daily film screenings in our theatre, exercise classes, visits from professional musicians and performers among many others. We also have a fully stocked library (The Rattigan Library) as well as an extensive range of films on DVD. If anyone has a desire to try something different, then they are free to inform the Activities Coordinator, who will endeavour to arrange it for you.
There are also regular events at the house for residents and their relatives, which include our annual celebration of Shakespeare’s Birthday and Jeanne’s Day (in honour of one of our past benefactors).
There are also regular trips out to local gardens, theatre visits, shops, pubs and restaurants.
We are extremely lucky to have extensive grounds as well as courtyard gardens in both the main house and Jeanne’s Wing. Residents enjoy walking around the grounds for exercise, or just to sit in, when the weather is good.
Residents are welcome to go as a group, on their own or accompanied by staff.
